We at Okinawa Sango Co., Ltd. have been blessed with many opportunities in the past 34 years since our establishment. We have many encounters with passionate farmers in Okinawa.

Among them, the purity of the thoughts of Mr. and Mrs. Shimabukuro at Mana Mango Farm in Nago touched my heart.

I happened to find on the internet and read “Nel contagio” written by an Italian author Paolo Giordano, and I was overflowed with feelings. In this book, the coronavirus infection is focused very deeply and scientifically, and clearly transmits “what should we protect, discard and how should we live?” as his messages.

I thought there is a wonderful person… and I asked myself toward his question, “What should we keep, what should we give up, and how should we live.” And I was thinking what I should do then.

The next day, Mr. and Mrs. Shimabukuro at Mana Mango Farm sent me some beautiful mangoes that I had never seen before.

I kept thinking what I could do… and suddenly I realized,
This is it!
This is what Okinawa Sango should do!
This is what we can do!

Mr. and Mrs. Shimabukuro at Mana Mango Farm have decided to grow mangoes in Okinawa without pesticides and chemical fertilizers, and they have been struggling for years!
Their beliefs and attitudes are noble.

In Paolo Giordano’s book, he says, “If we do not change something, the same thing will happen again just like the coronavirus influence.”
“The cause of this pandemic itself is the dangerous way we humans treat nature and environment.
Deforestation, our thoughtless consumption behavior is what it is.”
“This suffering makes us realize the truth, which is usually blurred and invisible to us, and make us reconsider our priorities.” These messages have been clearly shown.

In response to suggestions similar to Paolo Giordano, I would like to have many experts stand up.

Returning to Okinawan topic.
The difficulties are beyond imagination to grow crops without using pesticides or chemical fertilizers in the subtropical humid climate like Okinawa.
The pure feelings of Mr. and Mrs. Shimabukuro, who are facing these difficulties, show the right way to live as human beings and are reflected in the wonderful mangoes delivered.
Mr. and Mrs. Shimabukuro, as our role models, it appeared to me that it was time for us to “look at the reality and take action”.

Every day in the news, we hear that cliffs are collapsing and rivers are overflowing.
In my opinion, these are serious messages from nature.

What should we keep, what should we give up, and how should we live.
To the words Giordano throw at me, I am willing to put into practice from where I can start.

Nature lives dynamically.
The skillful decomposition and purification by trillions of microorganisms living in the soil.
Purification of soil and river water.
There is a material circulation of living things that has constantly protected the earth.
We might have made a huge mistake.
I would like to pay my heartfelt respects to allow many little creatures to live by switching farming methods.
The little creatures are hard workers.

Mangoes from Mana Mango Farm emit a rich aroma throughout the house.
Illustrated are to express the world depicted by Mr. and Mrs. Shimabukuro who are cultivating amazing mangoes.

Switching to their farming methods will lead us in our pursuit of material civilization to a sustainable and happy society.

The World Health Organization: WHO has published (Nutrition advice for adults during the COVID-19 outbreak) outlining nutritional guidance for new coronavirus infections.

At the beginning of the journal, it states that nutrition and water intake is a source of life, and that a balanced diet boosts immunity and provide a healthy state, thus lowering the risk of getting diseases such as infections.

Illustrated instructions on how to take fresh meals every day to take in the vitamins, minerals, fiber, protein and antioxidants you need.
WHO(World Health Organization)
If you look at the top foods recommended by the WHO, they were common in our homes about 60 years ago. Green vegetables and seafood were on the table every day.

In the olden days in Japan, grandmothers and mothers used to stand at the kamado(cooking stove). And they were preparing a side dishes to please their family. They were also making delicious miso with boiled beans.

In summer, an eggplant and a cucumber are colorfully attached to the dining table after pickled with bran bed, and appetite is stimulated. In the winter, they are all pickled by grandmothers, such as Takuwan(pickled radish), Chinese cabbage and nozawana(brassica).

Fermented foods were a normal part of it. There are no colorants, preservatives or synthetic seasonings. Vegetables are dried in the sun and are packed with vitamin D and fiber, so they are full of nutrition.

They were making them for their families. It was filled with mother’s love. Home cooking seems to be the best way to stay healthy. Such a Japanese dining table is important in this day and age, isn’t it? A mother who cares for her family will heal her family. I think that the feeling of “Thank you” and “Thank you” for the gratitude to the creator of the food, “Itadakimasu” and “Thank you” for the “edible life” must have fostered a sense of reverence for nature in our childhood.

Both green vegetables and fermented foods boost our body’s metabolism. In this WHO’s advice, It is recommended that you avoid processed foods that are high in fat and salt, eat fresh foods, cook low in fat, salt and sugar, and drink plenty of water every day.

About water

Water is indispensable for sustaining life, and it is the root of life as it is involved in transporting nutrients and various components in the blood, excreting wastes, and regulating body temperature.
Okinawa Sango Co., Ltd. believes that hot water (Sayu), which is slightly higher than the body’s temperature, is recommended to replenish the water that the body needs. Coral Calcium users have been drinking hot water and are doing very well.

2020年の新しい一年が始まります。
愛に包まれて、人類の知恵と叡智が【地球の健康回復】に向かうことを 誰もが願っている、本年は特別な年の始まりです。

Let us take a step towards realizing a sustainable society!

Other trace minerals are required. (Mr. Fukasawa, an experienced farmer specialized in fruits farming in Yamanashi, Japan)

カルシウムやマグネシウムだけだと実は硬くなるけど美味しくはならない。カルシウムやマグネシウムの他の微量ミネラルがなければ、美味しくはならない。

Agriculture resistant to climate change is essential.

There is a soil where variety of life lives around roots of trees.
・Soaked rain water will be filtered through this heavy covering of leaf mold and become clean groundwater.
・Healthy soil create fine water.

Our small step will cure our farm and by cleansing river and sea water, bring back diversity of organisms.

Bring back beauty of coral reefs.

Let’s start SDG’s from everyday life.
Let’s bring beautiful coral reefs back to Okinawa once again.

We can reduce countless wastes in our natures discharging from our daily life by taking in naturally grown coral powder made from weathered reef coral that has been died instead of using artificial materials made with petrochemistry.

Coral powder made from dried weathered reef coral is composed mainly of calcium carbonate.

As you see the graph below, used coral powder in various fields will be reused for the ground and disassembled in the network of microbes naturally.

Raw material of coral powder will never be wasted. It’s the pure natural material grown in the sea of Okinawa.

As our first step to take, we will commit to support agricultures to reduce inflow of red clay to our coral reefs from farms here in Okinawa, in 2020.

We incorporate natural material “weathered reef coral grains” into various scenes of our lives to make a healthy life.
